The BEEI Nano DeBEE has the highest processing energy of any electric benchtop high-pressure homogenizer. The laboratory scale Nano DeBEE allows users to easily adjust a wide variety of parameters to ensure the optimum process for excellent homogenization. Pressure, flow and process duration are all independently controlled, and the BEEI homogenizing cell is the only high pressure homogenization technology that allows for control of process duration. Likewise, the amount of cavitation, shear, and impact the sample is exposed to can be adjusted by varying the aforementioned control parameters as well as through various the instrument setup.
The user-friendly Nano DeBEE is suitable for a wide range of applications, including cell disruption, emulsification, dispersions, and particle size reduction. The core technology - BEEI's proprietary homogenizing cell - ensures excellent results in fewer passes.
Nano DeBEE homogenizers are extremely flexible. They can be configured for parallel flow (high cavitation, low shear, low impact), reverse flow (maximum shear, cavitation, and impact), short or long process times, and a variety of processing nozzle sizes and reactors. It has a built-in product cooling heat exchanger and is suitable for applications utilizing back pressure and a wide range of volumes.

The Nano DeBEE high-pressure homogenizing system combines the homogenizing forces of most other homogenizers into a single instrument:
All of the above forces may be adjusted in the Nano DeBEE, allowing for highly customized operation in order to achieve the desired particle size in a highly reproducible manner with minimal passes and processing time.

This is a big decision. Can we try a Nano DeBEE before we purchase it?
Yes, for a fee. If your samples are in no way hazardous Nano DeBEE can test and optimize your high-pressure homogenization process for you, provide an on-site demo, or you can lease a unit for one to two months. If you're interested in any of those options, shoot us an email or give us a call and we'll be happy to discuss costs and help set it up.
What is the maximum viscosity substance that the Nano DeBEE can handle?
Very high. Well over 20,000 cps. The rule of thumb with the Nano DeBEE is that if it's liquid and you can pump it, you can homogenize it in the Nano DeBEE. At very high viscosities, however, you may need to use air pressure to feed the sample into the machine.
If we had to draw a line, it would be at 100,000 cps.
What is the procedure for cleaning or sterilizing the Nano DeBEE?
Most users simply run a suitable solvent through the system. Done properly, this is generally satisfactory to meet regulations pertaining to the sterilization of instrumentation (FDA, etc.).
What kind of cooling is required for the heat exchanger?
The heat exchanger requires a stream of cold liquid. This can be done by feeding it cold tap water, or a recirculating chiller can be used. BEEI recommends a chiller with approximately 1750 watts of cooling capacity.
Can the Nano DeBEE be used for continuous applications?
The Nano DeBEE is intended for small-scale processing or R&D applications and is not designed with continuous use in mind. While you theoretically can use the Nano DeBEE 24/7, it would be analogous to buying a car and driving it 100k miles / year. In situations where you would be running it for over 4 hours / day, we would suggest scaling up to a larger system designed for continuous use.
BEEI does have larger-scale systems that can be used 24/7. The Micro DeBEE is one such option, but there are other, larger scale systems as well. If you would be interested in learning more, please contact us.
I am trying to homogenize gas into a liquid. Would the Nano DeBEE be suitable for my application?
No. Products which may contain significant amounts of gas should be degassed before homogenization in the Nano DeBEE. Gas bubbles in the feed fluid implode when pressure is generated, which creates water-hammer effect or extreme pressure spikes that are detrimental to the equipment.
Is the Nano DeBEE explosion proof / is it suitable for C1D1 or C1D2 environments?
No, the Nano DeBEE is not explosion proof. If you are looking for a high-pressure homogenizer which can be used in hazardous environments, the air-powered Micro DeBEE may be suitable as it does not have any electronic components.
What safety features are there on the Nano DeBEE to mitigate the inherent risks of high pressure systems?
